Some days just don't go as planned. Today was supposed to go something like this...
5:30 roll out of bed, do a load of laundry, stumble to the kitchen for coffee, get ready for kids
7:00 breakfast, get kids ready for school, get house ready for Bible study
8:00 Will leaves
9:00 Take Audrey to last day of school
(don't forget the hotdogs, teachers gifts and swim stuff for class party)
9:30 Return home to house full of women and kids for Bible study
10:45 leave study early to go to Audrey's party, Cassidy plays with a friends
1:00 Home for nap/quiet time
3:00 Pick up Will and friends from school, take one friend home until swim team
4:45 Swim team, entertain girls at park
5:30 race home for dinner, get Will ready for baseball game
6:45 Will out the door for game (with team snacks and drinks),
get girls bathed, read to and into bed
8:00 girls to bed
8:01 glass of wine
9:15 Will home from game, catch up with him, get him into bed
10:00 crash
Instead, it started out like this:
Charlie: "What's that noise?"
Jessica: "I didn't hear anything."
Charlie goes upstairs and returns to tell me that Will is not feeling well. I race upstairs, plastic trashcan in hand and pass it to him just in time. Thank God the boy can aim!
After I sent a flurry of e-mails cancelling and re-arranging, I sat back and thought, "Ok, now what do I do with my day?" Suddenly, the schedule was cleared. So, I played with Cassidy, tickled and read books. I talked with Will about plans for the summer. I poked around in the garden, enjoyed a popsicle with the kids, pet the dog and caught up on paperwork. I watched Cassidy feed Kersee handfuls of goldfish. Will seems to be doing better and is hungry again. I think this day may have turned out better than originally planned.
